After the public scrutiny of the poor state of the newly launched Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, President Trump claimed through Truth Social that the historic site was intentionally targeted by vandals.
The pool was said to be overhauled in a shocking $14.8 million renovation ordered by the president and his administration to prepare for the upcoming America 250 celebrations. The project included painting the basin floor a very vibrant American flag blue. However, just days after the completion, the pool suffered from a huge algae bloom that turned the water bright green.
Efforts by federal workers to treat the water with hydrogen peroxide reportedly caused the blue coating to blister, peel, and float to the surface in large chunks.
