In a recent and rather embarrassing outburst, Rep. Jasmine Crockett interrupted the proceedings of a House Oversight Committee meeting, delivering a series of inflammatory remarks directed at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and growing increasingly antagonistic towards the other Republican members present, which culminated in a comical roasting of the leftist politician on X.

To provide context, during a House Oversight Committee meeting held on May 17, 2024, tensions escalated when Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) confronted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) following Greene’s comment regarding Crockett’s artificial eyelashes. Crockett retaliated with a barrage of personal insults, labeling Rep. Greene as racist.

Throughout the meeting, Rep. Crockett provocatively characterized Rep. Taylor Greene as possessing a “beach blonde bad-build butch body,” questioning whether such an insult could be deemed “engaging in personalities.” In reaction, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) inquired, “A what now?” As laughter erupted on the House floor, Rep. Comer remarked, “I have no idea what you just said.”

In response to Rep. Crockett’s derogatory comments, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) interjected, “We’re not going to do this,” which triggered a fiery retort from Rep. Crockett, who exclaimed, “I’m trying to get clarification…this is what y’all do.” Rep. Luna replied, “Calm down, I can’t hear you with your yelling.” Unfazed, Rep. Crockett shouted, “Y’all talk noise and then you can’t take it. If I come and talk sh– about her, y’all gon’ have a problem.

Crockett addressed the incident by firmly maintaining her position and denying any responsibility for heightening tensions during the House Oversight Committee meeting, stating, “I’m not apologizing,” and further asserting, “[Greene] is racist. I mean, I don’t have any questions about that.”

Furthermore, Crockett criticized “MAGA America,” expressing, “Often when I would gain attention, rather than addressing the issues I presented in a factual manner, they would instead comment on my hair, my nails, or my lashes, and they would subsequently link anything I do that involves beautification to being, quote-unquote, ‘ghetto.’”

In reaction to the controversy, Rep. Greene responded to Rep. Crockett on X, also delivering a sharp critique of AOC. Rep. Greene initiated her post by highlighting the hypocrisy present in the House, stating, “Every single committee hearing. Every single floor speech. Democrats attack, smear, and hurl personal insults against President Trump.”

Determined not to yield, Rep. Greene stated, “How absurd is it that the Speaker speaks about decorum while our opponents completely disregard it? AOC lacks intelligence. Jasmine Crockett wears artificial eyelashes. These comments are not personal attacks. They are merely facts.”
