‘American Idol’ alum Mandisa’s cause of death released

Mandisa’s cause of death has been revealed seven weeks after the American Idol alum was found dead in her home.

According to an autopsy report obtained by People, the Christian singer died of natural causes.

The report stated the 47-year-old singer was found dead in her home by friends on April 18, and prior to that “was last known alive approximately three weeks” earlier.

The Grammy winner’s death was attributed to complications of class III obesity.

Class III obesity is a disease in which a person “has a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher or a BMI of 35 or higher and is experiencing obesity-related health conditions,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.
